Fit Tip #5 - Focus on healthier behaviours rather than being obsessed over your weight

While we’re still on the topic of being ‘focused’, this week, we turn our focus to how we live our everyday life, and how that affects our fitness goals.

Fit Tip 5 - Focus on healthier behaviours rather than being obsessed over your weight.

Too often, I see people who are just obsessed with their weight - that they are willing to do anything (and spend any amount of money) to be slim again. But also often, even once they reach their so called ‘goals’… the weight just creeps right back… and they find themselves back to square one again. Does this sound like you?

This week’s tip is geared for those who have a fitness goal to achieve - which is actually most of us fitness enthusiasts… be it fat loss, or building muscle. While this tip may seem like a really obvious one, I’d like to highlight it today because it is actually very easy to lose sight of what we’re doing and start to focus on something more ‘immediate’, which will deliver faster results - cos that’s just human nature.

Being in good shape and health for life requires lifestyle change - and that is something that doesn’t come overnight… it is going to take a lot of your time. You see, it took quite awhile for bad lifestyle habits (bad eating, sedentary lifestyle, etc) to ‘creep’ into your life… so it is only fair that it is going to take some gradual changes, and a bit of your time to undo what you’ve let happen to your body. But let me assure you - that once you start having healthier habits… you would actually feel great besides looking fabulous.

Patience is what you need! It will take gradual changes in one’s daily routine - not a drastic diet program that promises to get you skinny in 30 days, and doesn’t care what happens to you after that.

When doing lifestyle change… it is best to focus on healthier habits in a gradual way - such as a gradual balancing of one’s diet (e.g. starting off with one home-cooked meal per day for those who eat outside all the time), an incremental addition of an exercise program into one’s weekly routine (e.g. a 15-minute walk twice a day, and slowly progressing to a full 30-minute walk, etc.. you get the picture..)

When these habits take root, and eventually becomes part of your life… then you will find that your fitness goals (be it massive fat loss, or even if it’s just to keep fit) would be so much easier to accomplish and maintain… because you have been addressing the root of your problem.

You will find that even if you stray off your routine for a few days or a week… you’ll be able to hop right back into it because you have been consistent and good with everything else.

To sum it all up - Do what is right… and the changes will follow… it’s as simple as that.
