Hi Redza, tell us a bit about yourself and the reason for setting up Total Definition
I’ve been in fitness training and health for over twenty one years and possess AIF Master Trainer accreditation. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to train and work with renowned coaches and trainers throughout Australia. Being in the local fitness scene here in Malaysia made me realise the lack of consistency and personalised service in the various gyms and the fitness industry – so it was with this need in mind and the determination to set new standards of excellence in personal training that Total Definition was born in 2008.

So what can the people expect from Total Definition?
Results!

Many people start a new regime only to have small distractions put them off track - large gyms full of members, long waits to use equipment, and unqualified trainers not getting them results.

Here, the focus is on personalized, quality fitness training with specifically designed programs – safe and effective for each individual client, all under the guidance of our internationally accredited personal trainers. Typically, we’d set aside some time to first understand the goals of a client, to assess their readiness to change, find out how much time they are willing to commit, the lifestyle changes they are willing to make – and then come up with a practical programme that will be easy for them to adhere to. Throughout my many years of experience, I can tell you that no two people are alike, and I’d like to say the same for our programmes here as well.

And of course, not to forget - privacy, comfort, and a relaxing boutique setting in a prestigious suburb, which in my opinion, is lacking in today’s fitness scene in Malaysia. One really needs to come visit us and see with their own eyes to understand that we’re not your typical next door fitness centre. Just one look at our equipment and you’ll know we mean business.

Tell us about the Personal Trainers at Total Definition
All our trainers are certified by accredited certification programs - such as AIF, AAFSP, and ACE (American Council on Exercise).

For too long the Malaysian public has been subject to ineffective exercises, lack of results, doubtful facts, and unsafe advice from trainers who just don’t have what it takes. I believe that personal trainers must not only possess certification but also look the part –having the knowledge but not putting it into practice in one’s own life isn’t setting a very good example. Knowing facts are important but being able to impart this knowledge in a ‘lifestyle-changing’ manner is what sets our personal trainers apart from the rest.

We don’t spend time hiring trainees, or further training our trainers or sending them for development programs - we just hire the best.

What do you mean by a ‘relaxing boutique setting’, and how is Total Definition different from any other fitness centre?
Take a look around you – first thing you will realise is that you’re actually in a very comfortable, stress-free environment.

We get feedback from people that they feel good just by being here – and that has been our intention.

In the evenings, the surroundings outside are great for a walk, or a jog around the block as well. In fact, many of our clients sometimes take a walk to our centre, and jog back to their apartments not too far away. You wouldn’t really want to do that if you’re located right in the city. If that’s too easy, we’ve got a handful of serious athletes who do hill-sprints right outside – made possible by the fact that we’re on a hill.

Not being an overcrowded mega-gym, we have guaranteed lower numbers – which translates to working out in comfort and privacy, as well as having the equipment when you want it and the time slot that’s good for you.

And of course, the icing on the cake is that we’re a Power Plate® Authorised Centre.

Yes, we’ve heard so much about the Power Plate® lately and how it claims to be a ‘20 minute, 3 day a week’ fitness solution. What do you have to say about the Power Plate®?
The Power Plate® has taken Europe and America by storm and there’s good reason for that.

What the Power Plate® does is allow the body to produce force with more ease than conventional fitness training – allowing strengthening to occur with lower risk to joints and less risk of injury. Most Power Plate® Authorised Centres only have the Power Plate® and nothing else – however, we’d like our clients get the best of both worlds, so we have top-notch weight-training equipment, and the Power Plate® as an addition to their routines. A typical fitness centre would charge you a hefty extra per session just to use the Power Plate® – but we don’t.

Of course we do have those who come in solely for the Power Plate®, and we are able to tailor that to meet their goals as well, but for the majority of our clients, we pretty much leave it up to our trainers to incorporate the Power Plate® into their programs with their clients.
The results and response so far have been tremendously encouraging.
