What’s the Best Time of the Day to Exercise?
Written by Noel Chelliah
Although there has been some statistics that show that people who exercise in the morning stick to their exercise programmes better, the bottom line on the best time to work out is when it fits into YOUR schedule or day the best. This means that if you are not a morning person, then don’t give up your evening workouts just to start exercising in the morning.
I personally prefer to workout in the morning so that I have my whole day ahead of me - and quite a number of my clients feel the same way too. But if you’re the type that likes to move about during lunch, you could try working out during your lunch hour (provided the facilities are nearby, and you grab a snack before your workout). And if you’re the type that likes to get your day out of the way and only then exercise, then do it after work. The point is that you experiment for yourself and see what’s best for you - try out different workout times, and if there’s one you prefer - stick to that.
Finding the time in your daily schedule that is comfortable and convenient for you is essential in ensuring you adhere to your routine and not give up so easily. According to the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), 50 percent of all new health club members quit within the first six months of joining, so don’t be a part of this statistic.
WHEN you do your training is not as important as doing it consistently.
