6 Sept 09 : Kampar Friendship Run 2009
Organised by Kampar Runners and Runners Malaysia
The running season will take a break from mid August for about two months before the new season starts in late October 2009. Many runners have been racing each week till the season breaks and in the process have not been engaging in activities involving their families. It is with this in mind that the Kampar Runners and RunnersMalaysia have agreed to co-organize a fun run at Kampar on 6 September 2009. It is a non competitive run with a view to promote goodwill among runners coming from Kampar and the Klang Valley. Mr Chan who is the leader of the Kampar Runners will be our local partner for
this event.
This event would also allow runners to explore local tourism, savoring the interesting hawkers’ food of Kampar. As an added optional program, we have arranged for a visit to University Tuanku Abdul Rahman at Kampar for families who may be considering sending their kids there for further education.
Purpose & Features of the Run
It is our vision that each town in Malaysia has a runners’ group and each runners’ group organizes an event on a yearly basis. If this vision of ours materialized, we will have a circuit of running events across the country organized by runners for runners. Kampar is starting with this simple no frills breakfast run to get the act moving. The run would be very simple, just a route that is safe for families, a short route of about 4km and a longer route of about 8 km. After the run, serve some drinks and light snacks and allow the runners, their families to mingle around.
Klang Valley Registrations
The role RunnersMalaysia play would be publicizing the event via our website and help to co-ordinate the number of runners from Klang Valley on the confirmation of their participation and hotel arrangements. There is no entry fee as this is a fun run but each runner will have to contribute a donation of RM10 to the Kampar Runners to cover cost of organizing the event and breakfast. Please refer to the attached form for hotel arrangements etc.
